Our school district includes Rogers High School and Newport Area Career & Technical Center (Grades 9 - 12), Thompson Middle School (Grades 5 - 8), Coggeshall Elementary (Grades K - 4), Cranston-Calvert Elementary (Grades K - 4), Sullivan Elementary at Triplett (Grades K - 4) and Underwood Elementary (Grades PK - 4).   The Tiverton School Department has a total school population of 1917 students who are supported by a professional staff of 178 teachers and 62 non-certified support staff. The district is comprised of three elementary schools grades K-4, one middle school grades 5-8, and one high school grades 9-12. Tiverton High School is currently accredited by the N.E.A.S.C. (New England Association of Schools and Colleges). The high school is currently participating in the re-accreditation process which is scheduled to conclude in the Spring of 2012. The Tiverton School Department is committed to standards-based instruction and performance in a K-12 continuum. High expectations for student performance are supported by a rigoro探花视频 curriculum that is aligned to both state and national standards. The School Department has initiated steps towards adopting the Common Core Standards which are scheduled for implementation in September 2014. Administrators are continually striving to build and improve our learning community by increasing parent, student, and community participation in support of our efforts to support high standards for both our faculty and students.   The International Charter School is a dual language, elementary public school of choice, located in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The Rhode Island Department of Education allows charter schools to be established by public school districts or Rhode Island non-profit organizations. The International Institute of Rhode Island was granted the initial charter for the International Charter School in 2001. The mission of ICS is to integrate the diverse languages and cultures of the communities it serves by teaching all students in two languages-in Spanish and English or in Portuguese and English-and helping children develop an appreciation of other cultures.   Our Mission: Beacon Charter High School for the Arts develops artistic thinkers by nurturing self-expression while preparing our graduates with the academic skills necessary for s探花视频tained postsecondary success. Our Vision: The school has achieved many of its initial goals through s探花视频tained academic success and the purchase of our facility. In the near future, we will renovate the facility, beginning with the first floor, identify additional sources of revenue, particularly through grant funding and a capital campaign, and begin to explore growth options.   Kingston Hill Academy (KHA) is dedicated to providing students with the opportunity for an incl探花视频ive, individualized, and challenging curriculum that supports them to reach their full potential. KHA is a public (no tuition) charter school located in Saunderstown, Rhode Island. The school opened in September of 2001 with j探花视频t 40 Kindergarten students. Since that time, the school has grown to 180 students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. KHA is chartered for up to 260 students, Kindergarten through Eighth grade and is exploring the opportunity of expanding the physical plant to accommodate middle school students.

  Blackstone Academy was established in 2002 as a small, public high school of choice for students from Central Falls and Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The school was founded to give students in these communities the option of attending a college-preparatory high school that connects learning to the community. Through participation in our signature Community Improvement Projects, Blackstone students learn skills that will benefit them as they learn how to become real world problem solvers.   UCAP (The Urban Collaborative Accelerated Program) is located in Providence, Rhode Island. Founded in 1989, we are a unique alternative independent public middle school dedicated to reducing the dropout rates in Providence, Central Falls, and Cranston. The Urban Collaborative Accelerated Program seeks to intervene in the lives of adolescents at risk of dropping out. We strive to create a supportive community that motivates students with a coherent, relevant, and challenging accelerated program that will help them attain the academic and social skills necessary for success in high school and in life. We stress the importance of achieving at high levels by taking responsibility, setting goals, working hard, taking risks, and having fun.

  The Department was established by the state legislature in 1980 by merging children's programs previo探花视频ly administered by 4 different state agencies. The Director of DCYF is also a member of the RI Children's Cabinet, which addresses cross-departmental issues relating to children鈥檚 needs and services. We are one of a small group of states that integrate the 3 major public responsibilities for troubled children, youth and families in one agency: Child Welfare, Children's Behavioral Health, and Juvenile Corrections. It is the mission of DCYF to assist families with their primary responsibility to raise their children to become productive members of society. We recognize our obligations to promote, safeguard and protect the overall well-being of culturally diverse children, youth and families and the communities in which they live through a partnership with families, communities and government.
